Unfortunately due to the constantly evolving coronavirus situation, Aye Write 2020 has been cancelled, and this event will no longer go ahead. We will contact ticket holders directly as soon as possible.
This workshop aims to develop songwriting skills and techniques, with an emphasis on creative lyric writing. Discussion of students’ songwriting will be at the centre of the workshop and will build upon structural analysis of the lyrics in well-known songs.
The session will include peer critique and a writing exercise designed to develop a better understanding of how songs are composed. Different forms of lyric writing and songwriting styles will be analysed to gain a deeper understanding of the songwriting process. Jim McCulloch is a professional musician and published songwriter who has a Masters Degree in Songwriting and Music.
