Peter Howson's Crucifixion 2010
Crucifixion, 2010 by renowned Scottish artist Peter Howson, will go on display at St Mungo on Friday 11 January. The work, which was completed in 2010 has been loaned to Glasgow Museums for at least a year by its owner and depicts Jesus in the pose of crucifixion, without the cross.
The painting is more than two metres high and just over two metres wide and has been described as one of the most dramatic Peter Howson has painted to date of Christ. St Mungo Museum hosted an exhibition of works by Peter Howson in 2009 which featured 20 paintings which highlighted the suffering of those who face poverty and oppression around the world.
