What's On in Glasgow Life
Niki de Saint-Phalle Workshop
Part of International Womens Day
This event is part of the current Niki de Saint-Phalle exhibition, and there will be opportunities to explore other aspects of the artist’s life and works. Most famous for her charming Nanas, Niki de Saint Phalle incorporated her artistic practices in most aspects of her life, including her letter-writing. Whether they were addressed to collectors and directors of museums, concerning the acquisition of her works by the gallery, or to her family and friends about her traumatic experiences, her letters are concise, enchanting and, most importantly, beautifully illustrated.
During this event, there will be opportunities to explore these captivating letters alongside an exciting programme of mini workshops, such as illustration, graphics, doodling, poetry and prose. Exact details will be confirmed nearer the date.
This event has been made possible through the partnership between the Gallery of Modern Art and the Glasgow Women’s Library for the upcoming ‘Illuminated Letters’ project. www.womenslibrary.org.uk
