Readers recognise suspense but how is this effect created in fiction? Narrative tension keeps a reader turning the pages, waiting for an event or dramatic moment. It is an essential part of good fiction but in practice it can be difficult to create tension in a short story or novel. In this session we will look at examples of suspense and narrative tension and through writing exercises we will develop these aspects of our own writing.

Parking
Please note that there is on-street surrounding The Mitchell Library, from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday this is metered. As this is also a local residential area, please use these spaces considerately. Alternatively, there is an a NCP Car Park on India Street next to Charing Cross Train Station which is a 2 minute walk away.

On occasion, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
